Why We Lowered Our Prices (And Why That’s a Good Thing)
Mike AdamoShare
At Pen & Ink, we’ve always believed that great pens shouldn’t be reserved for special occasions. Our mission has always been simple: to create handcrafted writing instruments that people actually want to use every day — pens that feel good in your hand, reflect your personality, and just might spark a little curiosity when spotted on your desk.
So, we’re excited to share something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for the past couple of months: we’ve lowered our prices — permanently.
What’s Changing (And What’s Not)
Let’s get one thing clear up front — our prices have dropped, but our craftsmanship hasn’t. Every pen and accessory is still made with the same care, attention, and high-quality materials. We’re still hand-turning each piece, sanding it smooth, and finishing it with love. We’re still obsessed with the details. That hasn’t changed, and never will.
So... Why the Lower Prices?
This isn’t about cutting corners. It’s about cutting out the extras.
Over the last 2.5 months, we’ve been reworking our supply chain to better align with our values — and yours. That meant forming direct relationships with some of our hardware manufacturers, eliminating the middlemen (and their markups), and passing those savings on to you.
We also started buying some of our raw materials, like wood, in larger batches — giving us bulk discounts without compromising our small-batch process. And by bringing some of our printing work in-house, we can now produce packaging and inserts on demand, instead of ordering in bulk and letting extras collect dust.
These might sound like small changes — but the result is a significant drop in prices across our shop, including up to 45% off our Rollester rollerball pens.
Why This Matters
We know that price can be a barrier when it comes to handmade goods. And while we’ll never be able to compete with mass-produced, big-box pricing, we can make it more accessible to own something that’s made with intention — and built to last.
We didn’t start Pen & Ink to create “just another pen.” We started it to make everyday writing instruments with personality, made for real people, with real stories. And this pricing update brings us even closer to that goal.
What Happens Next?
The new pricing is already live on our website — and for a limited time, we’re displaying both the old and new prices so you can see the difference for yourself.
So if you’ve been eyeing a pen or two, now might be the perfect time to start your collection — or grow it.
